RowRunRace’12 is an event organised by NUS Canoeing Club which involves kayaking and running. We are looking for passionate and committed students to help us out from now all the way till the event on 3RD JUNE. 1. How long is the expedition route?
Ans: The total distance is around 16km.

2. What boats will the participants be using?
Ans: All participants will be using slalom kayaks and will be in doubles.

3. Can I bring my own boat?
Ans: Unfortunately, no. All participants will have to use our equipment.

4. The expedition is from Sembawang Park to Pasir Ris Beach. So the starting point and ending point is different?
Ans: Yes. The expedition will end at Pasir Ris Beach and we will dismiss from there.

5. How do I get to the location?
Ans: We will be posting the details regarding the directions to and from the locations.

6. I wish to drive to the expedition. However the ending point is at Pasir Ris Beach, do you provide transportation back to the starting location?
Ans: No, we do not provide transportation back to the starting point. If you intend to drive there, you will have to provide your own transportation back.

7. How do we take care of our belongings?
Ans: Participants will deposit their belongings with us and we will transport the belongings to the ending point.

8. What happens if it rains on the actual day?
Ans: We will proceed in the case of drizzle or light rain. However if the visibility is affected or if there is lightning risk, we will not proceed. We will wait for the rain to subside until we reach our cut off timing, upon which, we will have to cancel the expedition.

9. In what case will there be a refund?
Ans: Refunds are only provided if the organizers cancel the expedition prior to the actual day of expedition. Otherwise, we will not provide any refunds.

Membership cost $10 for 1 academic year. With the membership, you can enjoy subsidized rates for the kayaking sessions and enjoy discounts on any events organized by us. The kayaking sessions will be held on the weekends at Kallang Water Sports Centre and there will be up to 4 sessions per month. Our members will only need to pay $8 per session for rental of the boats while non members will have to pay $15.

We are recruiting once again!

NUS Canoeing Club is a Recreational water sports club under NUS Students’ Sports Club. We organize expeditions and Legs and Paddles annually, not forgetting our recreational kayaking sessions at Kallang Water Sports Centre. We are different from the Inter-Varsity Players as we do not TRAIN. If you are afraid of hard core training sessions, fear not! We canoe for interest, not for medals.

Now that we have briefly touch on the club, let us go into the activities/events that we organize! Every year, we organize expeditions and Legs & Paddles. Our main expedition is normally held in December every year and it is an event open to public.

Legs & Paddles is an annual biathlon comprising of both kayaking and running in one race. It is the only kayaking AND running in Singapore and so we pride ourselves in being the sole organizer of such a race. We aim to promote kayaking to the general public as well as to the NUS student body.

Besides these two events, we also have our regular kayaking session at Kallang Water Sports Centre. As mentioned earlier on, we canoe for interest, and so there won’t be any hard core paddling during the kayaking sessions.

If you can’t kayak, don’t worry. We will send you for the certification courses that we organize on a regular basis. You will get to pick up a few skill as well as join in the awesome committee!
